Michael possesses a wealth of experience in coaching leadership & life success skills in business, school, sports & family developed over 25 plus years. He brings a unique perspective as a certified educator, certified facilitator/instructor in business settings, athletic coach at the High School and youth level and parent of four children. This perspective from educational, business, athletic and family settings has allowed Michael to understand and coach others in what attitudes, interpersonal skills and goals are required to be successful across various aspects of an individual’s life.
Michael’s extensive background in Organizational Development includes the outstanding achievement of being recognized as the Annual “Excalibur” Award Winner for successful coaching of individuals & teams (Textron 1998) in an organization of 4500 employees. His organizational development skills are backboned by his multiple facilitator certifications including his Master Facilitator/Instructor Certification from Achieve-Global (formerly Zenger-Miller) and his certification in the use of Systematic Multiple Level Observation of Groups (SYMLOG). Along with this successful organizational development work at Textron, Michael has led interventions in building organizations; transitioning organizations through downsizing, mergers & acquisitions; union avoidance; morale building; change management; and integrating international cultures. He has also coached and mentored literally thousands of employees, supervisors, managers and executives during this time. The skills required to work in this variety of what are often difficult situations are based in his ability to develop relationships through a foundation of trust. These core values and standards enable him to coach and develop positive behavior changes in the individuals and organizations he works with.
In addition to his business success, Michael has had significant success in coaching as well having coached multiple championship youth sports teams over the years, including his first at the age of 19. With an emphasis on teaching leadership and life skills, above and beyond the basic fundamentals of the given sport, many of the individuals from these teams have gone on to significant life success of their own.
Michael holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology, with a minor in Education, along with an MBA in Human Resource Management & Employee Relations.
Michael began his career as a Junior High School Social Studies Teacher certified in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. After moving into business, Michael spent time in various Human Resource leadership positions with Textron Systems (formerly AVCO); Pro Player Sports Apparel (a division of Fruit of the Loom) and Amphenol TCS (formerly Teradyne Connection Systems) with responsibilities both domestically and internationally.
During this time Michael has also had affiliations with several non-profit organizations such as the Hudson Chamber of Commerce (Board of Directors, Hudson, NH); Wilmington Family Counseling (Board of Directors, Wilmington, MA); Junior Achievement of Southern NH (Instructor, Golf Committee); Mass Amateur Sports Foundation/Bay State Games (Northeast Region Coach – Boys Basketball); Methuen Youth Basketball Association (Board of Directors; Travel Coach); Methuen West Little League (Board of Directors; Coach).
Michael lives in Methuen with his wife Patti and their four children, Betsy, Melissa, David and Katie, the older three who have moved on to college with academic and/or athletic scholarships. |
